Working principle of induction motor

10 / 100

The working principle of induction motors is mainly based on the principle of electromagnetic induction and real-time feedback from position sensors. Induction motor is a type of electric motor widely used in industry and daily life, with a simple yet efficient working principle. Firstly, the induction motor relies on current passing through the stator coil to generate a rotating magnetic field, which in turn drives the rotor to rotate. The key to this process lies in the interaction between the changes in current and the magnetic field.

Working principle of induction motor

1.Electromagnetic induction principle

1) Stator and rotor: Induction motors consist of two parts: stator and rotor. The stator is fixed and usually composed of a series of circular silicon steel sheets stacked together, and includes three-phase windings that are spaced 120 degrees apart in space.

The rotor is composed of cylindrical laminations with punched holes on the outer periphery, which contain the rotor winding. The rotor rotates through electromagnetic action.

2) Magnetic field generation and cutting: When the stator winding is energized, a rotating magnetic field is generated. This magnetic field will cut the conductors inside the rotor, thereby generating induced electromotive force (EMF) in the conductors.

Due to the presence of induced electromotive force, an induced current will be generated inside the rotor conductor, which will generate an anti magnetic field.

3) Electromagnetic force effect: The anti magnetic field inside the rotor will interact with the rotating magnetic field inside the stator, generating an electromagnetic force.

This electromagnetic force will drive the rotor to rotate, thereby achieving the rotational motion of the motor.

2.Real time feedback of position sensor

1) Hall sensor: Sensory motors are usually equipped with Hall sensors to detect the position of the rotor. Hall sensors work based on the Hall effect. When current passes through a conductor perpendicular to the external magnetic field, a potential difference is generated between the two end faces of the conductor perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field and current.

Through Hall sensors, real-time magnetic pole position information of the rotor can be obtained.

2) Information feedback and precise control: Hall sensors provide feedback on the position information of the rotor to the control system.

The control system accurately controls the timing of energizing and de energizing each phase winding based on position information, thereby achieving high-precision control of the motor.

3.Overall workflow:

1) Startup phase: When the motor starts, the control system will determine the sequence and timing of energizing each phase winding based on the initial position information provided by the Hall sensor.

By gradually changing the order of the energized phases and the magnitude of the current, the rotor begins to rotate and gradually accelerates to the rated speed.

2) Stable operation phase: During the stable operation phase of the motor, the control system will continuously monitor the position information of the Hall sensor and adjust the sequence and current size of the energized phases as needed.

Through this real-time feedback and adjustment mechanism, the motor can ensure stable performance and precise control under various operating conditions.

The working principle of induction motors is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction and real-time feedback from position sensors. By precisely controlling the timing of energizing and de energizing the stator winding and using Hall sensors for real-time position detection and adjustment, induction motors can achieve efficient, stable, and reliable operation.
