Its protection level is usually represented by the IP code, such as IP5X, IP6X, etc. The larger the number, the stronger the dust – proof ability. In a humid environment, like in a printing and dyeing factory or a sewage treatment plant, the motor is prone to short – circuit due to moisture. A waterproof motor is the first choice, with protection levels such as IPX4 and IPX5, which can effectively resist water splashing and spraying to different degrees. Motors on industrial production lines operate continuously for a long time and have high requirements for stability. The protection type needs to comprehensively consider the production line environment and process requirements. In the food processing industry, for example, in addition to meeting dust – proof and waterproof requirements, the motor also needs to comply with food hygiene standards to avoid food contamination. A protection – type motor with a special coating or material can be selected. Household motors, such as fan motors and washing machine motors, usually operate in a relatively mild environment, and the protection requirements are relatively low. However, they also need to have a certain dust – proof and waterproof ability to prevent the influence of dust and water vapor during daily use.
